Επισκόπηση του έργου: Στόχος του έργου iFUNcultures ήταν η εκμετάλλευση αγροτοβιομηχανικών απορριμμάτων και υπολειμμάτων τροφίμων ως υποστρωμάτων για την καλλιέργεια ωφέλιμων μικροοργανισμών, με σκοπό την παραγωγή ακινητοποιημένων καλλιεργειών που θα χρησιμοποιηθούν ως λειτουργικά συστατικά για την ανάπτυξη νέων τροφίμων με πιθανές επιπτώσεις στην υγεία, στοχεύοντας στη ρύθμιση του εντερικού μικροβιώματος στον Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη Τύπου 1 (T1D).

On January 26, 2024, at 18:00 EET, join us for an exciting 2-hour session at Alexander Beach Hotel & Spa, Alexandroupolis, Greece, as we unveil the results of the iFUNcultures project!

Project Overview: Τhe goal of the iFUNcultures project was to exploit agro-industrial and food wastes as substrates for the cultivation of beneficial microorganisms, aiming at the production of immobilized cultures to be used as functional ingredients for the development of novel foods with potential health effects, targeting regulation of the intestinal microbiome in Type 1 Diabetes mellitus (T1D).

Αποτελέσματα του έργου iFUNcultures παρουσιάστηκαν στο διεθνές συνέδριο 16th International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health – IPC2023 που πραγματοποιήθηκε την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα (20-22 June 2023) στην Μπρατισλάβα, Σλοβακία με τη μορφή αναρτημένης εργασίας (poster) με τίτλο "Oat Flakes (Avena Sativa) Restore Gut Microbiota Balance in an Experimental Type 1 Diabetes Animal Model", η οποία παρουσιάστηκε από τον Γρηγόρη Νέλιο (επίσης συμμετείχαν οι Ιωάννα Πράπα, Βασιλική Κομπούρα, Γρηγορία Μητροπούλου, Αμαλία Ε. Γιαννη, Νικόλαος Κωστομητσόπουλος και Ιωάννης Κουρκουτάς).

Presentation of results of the iFUNcultures project at the 16th International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health – IPC2023

Results of the iFUNcultures project were presented at the iFUNcultures project at the 16th International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota, and Health – IPC2023 held last week (20-22 Ιουνίου 2023) in Bratislava, Slovakia as poster presentation entitled "Oat Flakes (Avena Sativa) Restore Gut Microbiota Balance in an Experimental Type 1 Diabetes Animal Model", delivered by Grigorios Nelios (with Ioanna Prapa, Vasiliki Kompoura, Gregoria Mitropoulou, Amalia E. Yanni, Nikolaos Kostomitsopoulos and Yiannis Kourkoutas).

Το έργο iFUNcultures συμμετείχε στο διεθνές συνέδριο 30th International Conference of FFC - 18th International Symposium of ASFFBC που πραγματοποιήθηκε την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα (23-25/9/2022) στο Τμήμα Επιστήμης Τροφίμων και Διατροφής του Παν/μίου Αιγαίου στην Λήμνο, Ελλάδα με την αναρτημένη εργασία (poster) με τίτλο "Pathogenic biofilm removal potential of wild type Lacticaseibacillus rhamnsosus strains" που παρουσιάστηκε από την Γρηγορία Μητροπούλου (συμμετείχαν επίσης οι Γρηγόριος Νέλιος και Ιωάννης Κουρκουτάς, Επιστημονικός Υπεύθυνος του έργου).

The iFUNcultures project participated in the 30th International Conference of FFC - 18th International Symposium of ASFFBC that was held last week (23-25/9/2022) in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of the Aegean, Myrina, Lemnos, Greece with the poster presentation entitled "Pathogenic biofilm removal potential of wild type Lacticaseibacillus rhamnsosus strains" delivered by Gregoria Mitropoulou (with Grigorios Nelios and Yiannis Kourkoutas Scientific Director).

Το μέλος της ομάδας μας και Υποψήφιος διδάκτωρ, Νέλιος Γρηγόρης, παρουσίασε αναρτημένη εργασία (poster) με τίτλο "Assessment of Agro-industrial Residues and Food Wastes Potential for Production of High-Added Value Functional Food and Animal Feed Ingredients".

Happy to announce that iFUNcultures was part of the 9th International Conference on Engineering for Waste and Biomass Valorisation- WasteEng22, which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, 27-30 June 2022. A poster presentation on the "Assessment of Agro-industrial Residues and Food Wastes Potential for Production of High-Added Value Functional Food and Animal Feed Ingredients" was delivered by our team member and Ph.D. candidate Grigorios Nelios.

The iFUNcultures project participated in the FoodMicro2022 conference that was held this week (28-31/8/2022) in Megaron Athens International Conference Centre in Athens-Greece with the poster presentation entitled "Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus as potential preservative agent in functional grape juices" delivered by Gregoria Mitropoulou (with Anastasios Nikolaou, Grigoris Nelios, Dimitra Dimitrellou, and Yiannis Kourkoutas).
